Does Boston Salads make garden salads? No. There isn't a single head of lettuce in our whole building.
What does "hand-packed" mean? Every single pound of salad at Boston Salads is scooped into containers by REAL people. We don't use machines to package our products. Why? Because we want to constantly monitor our salads to make sure that you are getting potato salad - not potato soup.
Can anyone purchase directly from Boston Salads? Yes, all of our salads are available in five pound containers, we also have ten and thirty pound buckets. All orders should be called in the day before pick up at 617.541.9040. We accept cash or check - sorry no credit cards.
How many people does a five pound bucket feed? A general portion is 1/4 of a pound or 4 ounces, each bucket contains twenty 4 ounce servings. If you are feeding children or making finger sandwiches you can expect up to 40 servings per container.
Do you make anything else besides salads? Yes! We make many different kinds of side dishes - check out our product listing for a full description.
Why are you called Boston Salads and "Provisions" ? We are the exclusive distributor for Dietz and Watson premium deli meats for the New England area. We also carry Kettle Cuisine fresh soups, Applegate Farms natural products, and other provisions.
How long will your salads last? Depending on the product, our salads have between 15 to 30 days of code from production, from our inventory you can expect between 12-14 days minimum. With other brands of salads you can expect up to 3 months of code because they use more preservatives. We make many of our salads on a daily basis to keep our inventory fresh. To keep our salads at their best, always keep them refrigerated between 32 and 38 degrees Fahrenheit, if they freeze or become too warm, the dressing will separate and if kept too warm, the salad will spoil & turn sour.
More Questions? We love to hear from you - really we do! Email Adrianne or call our distribution office at 617.541.9040 and we will gladly assist you.
